Lucy loves Daddy. Also, eats shoes.

We've actually explored both of these topics previously, but in case you forgot, let's go over it again. Lucy loves Brian SO MUCH! In each of these pictures, Lucy is either a) visiting Brian at Fluke for lunch, b) staring lovingly at Brian, or c) reaching out to hug/touch/play with Brian. Except the last picture, where she's carrying a shoe in her mouth...because we don't buy her toys and shoes are germ-free, as we all know.

Lucy the Destroyer

Not only does Lucy have bulldog pajamas, but now she has her very own Viking helmet, befitting her slash-and-burn destroy at all costs philosophy.

Lucy has hay fever.

Lucy and her best pal Finley went to a farm/petting zoo/kiddie paradise/hay maze today. They had SO MUCH FUN, and were both exhausted after several hours of hard-charging kiddie fun. I took tons of pictures because I'm obsessed like that - but chose just a few to give all of Lucy's friends an idea of how she spent her day (the answer is - blissful baby fun!). She petted several different animals, climbed up a slide the wrong way multiple times, ran through a hay maze which included a LOOOOOOOONG tunnel, and jumped on a trampoline covered in hay (the hay bouncer as it's more informally known). She had french fries for lunch, and thankfully for her, Finley's mom is always prepared and busted out a banana that Lucy and Finley were able to share/fight over.

Lucy wants to tell you about her pain.

Poor Lucy is finally getting a tooth...this is basically what we've been going through (together) today.

I'M SO MAD AT YOU! HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN TO ME? YOU KNEW I WAS GOING TO GET TEETH AND YOU DIDN'T. SAY. ANYTHING. No warning at all - is that even legal?

Interviews for a new Mommy start tomorrow. See my ad on Craigslist.

Tending to my binkies...la la la...oh WAIT - I HATE YOU BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY YOU COULD MAKE THIS BETTER BUT YOU WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON'T.

I'm still really mad at you, but until I find a new Mommy, maybe you could stroke my head a little bit and stick some Orajel onto my gums? It's the least you could do for allowing this mouth-evil to happen.

Just so you know, I'm dreaming of my new Mommy, and Orajel, and blueberries, and Elmo, and animal crackers...mmmmmmm...animal crackers. What was I saying?

Lucy is a blur.

This picture pretty much sums up our lives with Lucy these days. Now that she's walking, she's so fast we can barely keep up with her. Almost all of the pictures I try to take have little cartoon squiggly lines around the outside of a shape that vaguely resembles my baby girl.

This picture illustrates Lucy's ongoing fascination with all things electronic. I'm sure she'll be reprogramming my computer and making collect calls to Indonesia in the very near future, but until then, she seems happy with messing with the DVR and trying to erase all my taped episodes of Wipeout. Doesn't she know that I love to watch people get hit in the face and fall on their butts? It's part of why I love being a parent - our house is essentially an ongoing episode of Baby Wipeout.
Poor Lucy, I'm pretty sure she thinks that when Mommy or Daddy walk out the front door, they are immediately eaten by sand worms or velociraptors or something...the whole process makes her very sad. The other day, Brian was mowing the lawn and Lucy stood at the window watching him and mewling like a dying cat.

Lucy had a very big day yesterday.

First, she got up at 6:15am and had some fun playtime with Elmo! Mommy was very tired, but the good news is, that didn't bother Lucy at all and she had a WONDERFUL snuggle with Elmo while she watched Sesame Street.

After Sesame Street was over (why can't each episode be 3 hours long, like in my fantasies?), Lucy got busy playing with her legos and managing her extensive binky collection, which, as you can imagine, takes up a significant portion of her free time. Just to make sure I didn't forget about her, she did all of that accompanied by a high-pitched squeal of delight. Oh good.

After Mommy and Daddy both had some caffeine on board, we took Lucy for a walk in her new push cart. The part she sits in looks like a little car, and there's a plastic handle on the back for us to push it with. Lucy practiced her Miss Baby America wave at all the neighbors as we pushed her down the block in the sweltering heat. Great fun was had by all Lucy.

In the afternoon, Lucy went to her friend Finley's birthday party (in the pool there is another friend...Oliver). Lucy didn't let the fact that it was Finley's party, and not her own, get her down - she went in like she owned the place (and all the toys in the place) and made a HUGE MESS!!

Lucy was so exhausted from playing with all of Finley's toys in the heat that she needed several glasses of icy cold hose water, mixed extensively with dirt, sand and leaves, to quench her thirst.

Lucy was forced to lose the jumper after she realized that it would be a lot easier to get around without 10 pounds of sand clinging to her butt. Diaper-only maneuverability is much greater, and allowed Lucy maximum access to the backyard toy extravaganza - right here she seems to be saying with her eyes "IF YOU LOVED ME AS MUCH AS FINLEY'S MOM LOVES HIM, I WOULD HAVE A WATER TABLE AND A SANDBOX TOO....RIGHT??!"

Needless to say - a water table is being ordered in time for her birthday in 3 weeks...who could say no to a face like that??

Lucy is on an adventure.

We took Lucy to the park this weekend, and unlike last time we went, she had a great time. Now that she can walk and doesn't need us or our stupid supervision anymore, she instantly went crazy and tried to climb up every slide and staircase she could find. I think that I am, generally, a cautious person. Brian might be SLIGHTLY less cautious, but he's still not going sky-diving or bull-fighting anytime soon. Lucy has no boundaries...nothing is too much for her. There is no staircase too high or too steep, no slide too slippery to climb up the wrong way, no height too great too scoot right to the edge and hang a foot (or possibly an entire arm and leg) over. She's fearless. It's exciting and nerve-wracking and I'm pretty sure she's going to grow up to be a lion tamer or a stunt-woman or maybe even a politician (see above re: no boundaries).

Lucy might be a mermaid.

Today was Lucy's first swimming lesson. We got her all dolled up in her swimsuit, which actually looked a bit like an old-fashioned bathing costume. We have been telling her all week that she would be swimming in a GIANT tub with Daddy today, but...you know...she doesn't speak English so good, so I'm pretty sure she actually went into this totally ignorant of what was actually about to happen.

Before we left, Lucy ran around in her bathing costume for awhile. She seemed to like the orange-stripey-ness of the whole thing.

While we waiting for the lessons to get started, Lucy took a tour of the pool area on Daddy's shoulders. This was in between licking the tiles surrounding the pool and chewing on a floatie toy she picked up that was last sanitized sometime before WWII.

Once they got started with the lesson, Lucy and Brian had a GREAT time and she giggled and laughed through the whole thing. Brian and I both love the water, and we have high hopes that Lucy will continue to enjoy her lessons, if for no other reason than it really seemed to tire her out (SCORE!).

Lucy can walk.

This is a tiny video of Lucy walking - just a few feet because, frankly, she's just not in the mood for my camera shenanigans. But, nonetheless, there is walking...briefly.
