Lucy went to the playground for the first time.

Lucy not only loves to swing, she loves the TASTE of swings. Apparently at the time this was taken, a nice woman came over and wiped the swing down with an antibacterial wipe, mumbling about fathers being unprepared. Poor Brian. Lucy and I also went to the park this weekend when Brian had to go in to work for a little bit. I pushed her on the swing and then we rode the merry-go-round, and she found the whole thing to be quite amusing.

I'm so excited that she's starting to like to do things and go places...what fun as we get into the nice springtime weather.

Why do you do these terrible things to me?

Lest you should think we are torturing our beautiful daughter - rest assured - we are just trying to feed her. Organic gourmet baby food. Because we're all yuppie like that. I'm not sure how any child that comes from both Brian and I could actually dislike the entire process of eating, but somehow it has happened. Maybe she's not mine? I don't know. All I do know is that she's not allowed to have ice cream or wine yet, and sweet potatoes and carrot puree don't seem to be doing the trick.

PS: I did include one picture of her smiling so you wouldn't think I'm shoving bamboo shoots under her fingernails or anything. I swear - GOURMET ORGANIC BABY FOOD!

What? Sweet potatoes? WHAT? Absolutely not.

Oh the misery!! Why do you do this to me? What have I done to deserve this kind of treatment? As soon as I gain control of my fine motor skills, I'm calling Child Protective Services and reporting you for feeding me GOURMET ORGANIC BABY FOOD!

I can no longer even look at the spoon. Your torturous feeding methods force me to hide my face and weep for your lack of humanity.

Oh please NOOOOOOOOOOO! Please. No more GOURMET ORGANIC BABY FOOD. Oh the humanity.

Lucy is giving me the evil eye. But, also loves the presents I bring.

Lucy has recently perfected the evil eye. It's kind of funny...because, honestly, I am pretty much solely responsible for the procurement of her food, formula, diapers, clothing and toys. And yet...DADDY! She sits in his lap - and this picture perfectly captures her disdain at all things Mommy when Daddy is available as he is obviously the only person that loves her at all.

As noted above - due to my totally thankless job of being the toy-bringer and fun-finder - I bought this awesome mini-Cooper GT (with leather seat) for her today. She will, of course, thank her Daddy some day for buying her such awesome gifts. Sigh. She hasn't figure out it's a walker yet - but as you can see, she is definitely having fun.

Hide the electrical cords! Here comes Lucy!

So, tonight Lucy started getting up on all fours - rocking back and forth and trying to crawl. Brian and I were like "GO LUCY GO!" And then we looked around our non-baby-proofed house and were like "NO STOP PLEASE DON'T GO!" Anyway, trying to capture something as nebulous as "almost getting ready to crawl sometime in the near future" on camera is pretty hard. But here's some cute pictures and just try to picture little squiggles on each side of Lucy as she rocks back and forth, trying to figure out how to get all her limbs on a coordinated mission to propel her to her ultimate goal - the computer cord.

Lucy is a giggle monster.

Lucy is a baby in motion...almost.

I think Lucy is getting ready to crawl soon - and I tried to get a picture of her up on all fours - but this was the best I could do. Sadly, my camera skills aren't good enough to capture the split second that she perches in the air, poised for mobility, positioned for speed...right before she topples over onto her head. Sigh.

This block must taste pretty good, because it's the only thing Lucy REALLY likes to eat on a regular basis. Food is so gross. Plastic is DELICIOUS!

Hey, is there something on the back of my pants?
I wish I could say it was me getitng her to smile this big...but...nope. As usual, only Daddy is funny enough to earn the super-huge gumless baby grin.

Oh hi! Aren't I cute? Everyone says so.

Lucy is thisclose to escaping

This is the day we decided that the bumper would probably be a good idea.
