Ooooh a present! Hey...wait a minute...

So, Lucy was VERY excited the other day when a big, colorful box showed up that was (obviously) full of toys for her. Because, what else would we possibly be doing with our day besides ordering more junk for her when all she really wants to play with is a spoon and piece of tupperware. Sigh. Anyway, the big colorful box sat in the living room for a week while Daddy was out of town until Mommy finally decided that needed to take a shower IN PEACE AND QUIET and decided to open the box...ooooooooh....

All of the sudden, Lucy realized that the "Box 'o' Toys" (tm) was actually a plastic prison, complete with "activity wall" and a tiny chisel to carve in the number of days of her confinement.

But, then she kind of got into it and decided to show me one of her new skills, which involves getting up on her knees so she will be able to reach EVEN MORE dangerous things! Cords and cleaning products = old and busted. Knives and lit candles = new hotness.

After mastering her new skill, Lucy was able to (finally!) see herself in the mirror and admire her baby beauty in all its glory. I cannot begin to explain the level of obsession that Lucy has with her own reflection...it's like me and Diet Coke or my dad and Cheetos...TRUE LOVE!!!

Overall, despite the fact that the box was actually full of baby prison instead of brightly colored toys, Lucy seems to approve. And, Mommy was finally able to take a shower that lasted twice as long as usual - THREE WHOLE MINUTES. Woo Hoo!!

  1. I can't wait until Lucy meets "Red" and barters for a small plastic rock hammer to "make chess pieces." Before long, she'll dig right through the prison and be free to go live in Zejuatinajo (sp?).

  2. Oh my god, hilarious. Babies just can't get enough of their own reflection--Maya laughs at her naked self in the mirror after the bath EVERY night. Smart move keeping it in the box until you really needed it! You are a mommy master.
