Lucy knows right where the Easter eggs go...

Into Elmo's head! Lucy packed up her Elmo Easter basket and took it to Federal Way this afternoon for an Easter egg hunt sponsored by supermom and co-worker Miss Becky. There were jillions of kids there and Becky hid over 300 eggs, plus she had a little area just for Lucy, who was a little young to participate in the complicated scavenger egg hunt the older kids were doing. Miss Becky and her family also live right on a lake, which Lucy thought was pretty darn great. All in all, Lucy (and mom and dad) had a great time, there were lots of delicious treats and candy, and Lucy managed to get her beautiful Easter dress absolutely filthy...so, toddler success on a grand scale!

Lucy is the Tulip Festival Queen...

Today Lucy took Brian and I to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. It's a festival! With tulips! And mud! My feet hurt, we're all covered with mud, and I'm pretty sure Lucy ate enough mud and rocks to power her gizzard for a fortnight, but overall - it was pretty fun. Lots of cute picture taking opportunities for us, and lots of tulip stalking and killing opportunities for Lucy Warrior Princess. I'd say that's a win-win...plus, did I mention the mud!??

Lucy *might* be my daughter.

I don't want to, like, draw a bunch of hasty conclusions...but....any kid this interested in silver glitter shoes and a pink jacket MIGHT be my daughter. It's like a redneck joke, only with more glitter and a bigger gap between the front teeth.

Lucy has been very busy.

Nobody understands better than me how totally cute Lucy is...thus I understand the frustration of her fans (ie: anyone in the grandparent category) when I neglect my blogging duties. What can I say? Life has been pretty busy for all of us around Chez Dietz-Purcell. That being said, here's a whole slew of new Lucy pictures, with BONUS PIGTAILS!!

This is, for some reason, a giant hollowed out rock that sits at one of the multiple playgrounds near our house. Perhaps this is some yuppy art installation made especially for parents to get cutesy pictures of their kids in a pseudo-natural setting? I'm not sure, but it kind of reminds me of the egg that brought Mork to Earth, which makes a lot of sense since one of Lucy's favorite words is "NANU!" (aka: Binky).

Lucy has pretty much mastered the playground at this point. Here you can see her climbing up a rope ladder which leads to a very tall slide. This is a skill that will come in handy when she finally makes it as a professional wrestler in Mexico.

Lucy loves this swing, which is sort of weirdly half Barcalounger and half Throne. Perfect for the Queen of the Playground who hasn't forgotten her redneck roots (see last picture).

Here, Lucy is visiting Daddy and Uncle Scott, who have been doing some work in Uncle Scott's basement. Uncle Scott is also dogsitting a bulldog for a friend, and Lucy was quite thrilled to get some quality boof-boof time in.

In general, Lucy HATES for me to mess with her hair. I'm convinced this is *that thing.* You know, when your parent says "Someday, you're gonna have a kid JUST LIKE YOU," and you know they mean it as a threat?? I notoriously did not allow my mom to do any of the girly things she wanted to me, and now I am experiencing full karmic payback. But, good thing for me, I'm immune to tears (I'm like Chuck Norris that way), so I persevere and put Lucy's hair in pigtails anyway, because it is SO CUTE. Seriously, every time she says "OW!" and points at her head,
I'm all like, hold on, let me just twist this elastic One. More. Time.

Remember what I was saying about the Dietz-Purcell redneck roots? Yeah...these are the crooked gap teeth of a kid with a really shallow orthodontic genepool.

Lucy will show you her dirty pants.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that my parents were here all weekend and I didn't take a SINGLE PICTURE. I was too busy participating in the fun! So, to make up for it, here are some pictures of Lucy having fun at the Ballard Locks a couple weeks ago. She went running headfirst into a mud puddle and you can see how great she looks in muddy pants....beautiful muddy baby!
