Lucy got a winter hat.

Lucy got to pick out her own winter hat this year - and here it is. To be fair, I'm not sure she understood she was picking out a hat she'd have to wear all winter since all she did was grab it at Target, grunt, and then shove it in her mouth. Good thing she's totally cute enough to carry it off. Poor thing...I hate to think about what she's going to tell her therapist one day.

Lucy is all about the slide.

Lucy has recently discovered a love of all things slide-related. She even goes down the corkscrew slide by herself! It's pretty crazy to see her being such a big girl, but of course my delight is always tempered by the fact that she appears not to have a fear of ANYTHING, even things it's probably healthy to be afraid of. Danger-Baby rides again!!!!

Lucy has been out and about lately.

I know that posting has been a bit sparse of late, but Lucy has been VERY BUSY! Between pumpkin picking, various parks and fairs, and enjoying the very last of the nice autumn weather before it's All Rain All The Time here in Seattle, she hasn't been home much!

One place Lucy recently went was the Salmon Days Festival in Issaquah, Washington. She got to play, eat some very questionable food, and see salmon returning up Issaquah creek to spawn. But, I think her favorite was the dog jumping competition, and there were dogs EVERYWHERE! Because Lucy has no innate fear of anything, she went right up to each dog under the assumption that they were completely friendly, reached right out, and just yanked whichever part of the dog was nearest. Thankfully she didn't meet any doggies who were averse to this type of introduction.

Another place Lucy recently discovered was the indoor playground at the mall. Each play structure is something or some animal found in Puget Sound. Lucy was particular to the giant octopus and didn't let any of the bigger kids scare her off. Brian was right there to make sure it all went well, and LOOK - he's wearing a new shirt! :)

Sometimes even when she's just hanging around the house, chilling in her jammies, Lucy feels really happy and can't help but mug for the camera. What a ham!

This picture is a follow-up on the last post. Lucy wanted all of her readers to know that drums aren't JUST for standing in, sometimes they are for wearing on your head!!

Lucy marches to the beat of her own drummer.

Lucy is OBSESSED with her drum...to the point where she would really prefer to live in it and perform all of her daily activities while safely encased in it. At every opportunity, she runs over, climbs into it, and then tries to sit down. Inevitably the fit is...somewhat uncomfortable. So, then there's the crying and the desperate attempt to get out. And then...back in. And out. And in. You get the picture.

Another thing Lucy is into right now is her picture book of words - she especially likes animal words and clothing words. She knows that cows say "MOOOO" and that kitties say "MEOW!" And she loves to point at the picture of the pants and say "THAT!" I'm pretty sure if we can get a book of pictures of animals wearing pants, we're pretty much going to be set.

Lucy went pumpkin picking.

Last weekend Lucy took me and Brian to the pumpkin farm to pick out our pumpkins for Halloween. Basically the day went like this:

Lucy stood up in the wheelbarrow and gave me a heart attack. But, I got a picture instead of asking her to sit down. Mother of the Year!

Brian hauled Lucy out to the pumpkin patch in the aforementioned wheelbarrow. Lucy was dubious, at best.

Lucy walked around and helped us pick out pumpkins. And by "help", I mean "if she looked directly at it and it wasn't rotting into the ground, we threw it in the wheelbarrow and paid for it."

Lucy inspected our interpretation of her selections.

Lucy gave us her opinion of our interpretation of her VERY EXPLICIT INSTRUCTIONS re: pumpkin selection and purchasing.
