Lucy - more B-sides

Because we are insane people, we take about eleventy bajillion pictures of Lucy EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. Seriously. Even if I quit my job and stayed home and did nothing but post pictures 24-hours a day, we'd probably never be able to get them all up. I'm sure there's a lesson here...something like "PLEASE! Quit being so crazy!". But...oh well. Until we sober up off our Lucy high, here's some of the pictures that have been in the minors, just waiting for their chance at the big show.

Oh hey! Do I have something on my head? Seriously though...something kind of wet?

Beep! You've reached Lucy. If I don't answer, it's probably because I'm under the couch chewing on a cord. Leave a message and I'll get back to you after I finish dismantling the fireplace with my mouth.

We AGREED on 7pm for bed! It is now 6:54, which is UNACCEPTABLE. You will pay...oh yes, you will pay.

Did I hear you say "Hippos go Berzerk?" YES!!!!!!!!!
Daddy and Lucy enjoying a snooze, effectively squeezing Mommy out of the bed and into the kitchen. It's the perfect plan really. Bwahahahahaha.

Lucy is all smiles

As Lucy gets older, she definitely has more of an idea of what's going on around her. Concepts such as "MINE" and "MINE" and "NO THAT'S MINE", have all taken on new meaning. She hates to eat Organic Gourmet Baby Food (tm), but loves to eat the following things: cords, fireplaces, glass, cell phones, remote controls, and cleaning fluids.

But, one thing Lucy does really well is smile. She's almost always in a good mood, and even when she's not, it's fairly easy to get her back into happy spirits. Lately, the smiles have gotten SO BIGGGG...her little cheeks all stretched out, gums in all their gummy glory...you almost think she'll smile so big her face will break!! So, in honor of Lucy's easygoing nature, here's a series of pictures of her SMILING!! Big, huge, gummy grins. I'm gonna miss the grins when she finally decides to grow a couple teeth.

Still no pictures...but a couple of quick videos...so YAY!

Brian and I can't find the camera cord anywhere - so he promises to buy a new one tomorrow so that I can download some pics before I leave on my trip on Thursday. In the meantime, we DID find the videocamera cord, so here's a couple of short videos of Lucy in her early attempts at crawling. She's doing SO MUCH better now - it's amazing the difference a few days can make!!

Trying to crawl...sorta.

Master of her own binky domain!

Technical Difficulties

I have been taking pictures all weekend as Lucy as I went to the park, played with toys, and worked on ALMOST crawling. Unfortunately, it appears Brian may have taken the cord to the camera with him to South America on accident. I am going to try to find a new one - and then I will post a bunch of pictures. In the meantime, we miss Daddy very much and can't wait for him to get home. Just one more week.

Lucy went to the playground for the first time.

Lucy not only loves to swing, she loves the TASTE of swings. Apparently at the time this was taken, a nice woman came over and wiped the swing down with an antibacterial wipe, mumbling about fathers being unprepared. Poor Brian. Lucy and I also went to the park this weekend when Brian had to go in to work for a little bit. I pushed her on the swing and then we rode the merry-go-round, and she found the whole thing to be quite amusing.

I'm so excited that she's starting to like to do things and go places...what fun as we get into the nice springtime weather.

Why do you do these terrible things to me?

Lest you should think we are torturing our beautiful daughter - rest assured - we are just trying to feed her. Organic gourmet baby food. Because we're all yuppie like that. I'm not sure how any child that comes from both Brian and I could actually dislike the entire process of eating, but somehow it has happened. Maybe she's not mine? I don't know. All I do know is that she's not allowed to have ice cream or wine yet, and sweet potatoes and carrot puree don't seem to be doing the trick.

PS: I did include one picture of her smiling so you wouldn't think I'm shoving bamboo shoots under her fingernails or anything. I swear - GOURMET ORGANIC BABY FOOD!

What? Sweet potatoes? WHAT? Absolutely not.

Oh the misery!! Why do you do this to me? What have I done to deserve this kind of treatment? As soon as I gain control of my fine motor skills, I'm calling Child Protective Services and reporting you for feeding me GOURMET ORGANIC BABY FOOD!

I can no longer even look at the spoon. Your torturous feeding methods force me to hide my face and weep for your lack of humanity.

Oh please NOOOOOOOOOOO! Please. No more GOURMET ORGANIC BABY FOOD. Oh the humanity.

Lucy is giving me the evil eye. But, also loves the presents I bring.

Lucy has recently perfected the evil eye. It's kind of funny...because, honestly, I am pretty much solely responsible for the procurement of her food, formula, diapers, clothing and toys. And yet...DADDY! She sits in his lap - and this picture perfectly captures her disdain at all things Mommy when Daddy is available as he is obviously the only person that loves her at all.

As noted above - due to my totally thankless job of being the toy-bringer and fun-finder - I bought this awesome mini-Cooper GT (with leather seat) for her today. She will, of course, thank her Daddy some day for buying her such awesome gifts. Sigh. She hasn't figure out it's a walker yet - but as you can see, she is definitely having fun.
