Lucy is ready for summer.

First of all, despite my continued slavish devotion to all of her earthly needs, Lucy would like you to know....DADDY! Sigh.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, Lucy has been very excited this week about the advent of shorts weather. Well, by "Lucy" I mean "me," and by "excited" I mean "wishful." It did get above 50 degrees for three ENTIRE days last week and Lucy wore shorts EACH and EVERY one of those days. Sure, her lips were blue, but I reminded her she's a Dietz-Purcell and told her to suck it up and take a lap. HA!

Lucy picked out these sunglasses herself. A) She loves them. B) They are decorated with skulls and crossbones. She'll be plundering in no time. We're SO PROUD!

This picture contains not only pedal pushers, which are so cute, but books. This would be the perfect opportunity for me to point out how intellectual she is and how much she loves to read, but truthfully she stacked these up and stood on top of them to reach a pair of nail clippers we left on the bookshelf. Had she reached them, I have no doubt the propane line would be history and there Elmo and Lucy would be roasting marshmallows over the smoking pit where our house used to be.

Lucy almost has a big girl room.

Lucy saw her new wall decal for the first time and was VERY interested in the woodland creatures surrounding the base of the tree. I'm kind of hoping it takes her a while to figure out this is a decal and can actually be peeled off fairly easily. For now, I'm telling her it's a painting. Lies are the #1 key to parenthood!

In the meantime, the toddler bed is still in the basement because Mommy is a HUGE CHICKEN. So, yeah. Once I get brave enough to try it out (probably next time Lucy takes a header out of the crib), the bed will go in the corner with the decal, and the bookshelf and toy box will go on the wall where the crib is now. Overall, I think it's super cute, and I hope Lucy the Destroyer takes it easy in there and lets me enjoy the fruits of my labor for at least a few days!

Lucy is a gymnast!

First of all, Happy Mother's Day to Grandma Linda and Grandma Mary Lou! In order to celebrate the holiday, Lucy wanted to share some pictures of herself at gymnastics class, which she attends every Saturday morning. For my Mother's Day gift, Brian let me go to San Francisco to visit my friend Rebecca, and I just got home today...this is my way of saying, enjoy the pictures, but I'm WAY too tired to think of anything witty to say. I had so much fun, and now I must go to bed early!!

Lucy is an island princess!

Bainbridge Island that is! Lucy took her very first ferry ride this weekend from Seattle to Bainbridge Island to have dinner with my friend Emma and her family at their new house. Lucy did great until the excitement of an ENTIRE set of stairs and an ENTIRE second floor got to her and she was forced to throw herself down the stairs headfirst, which led to a first-class goose egg on her forehead and a prolonged screaming fit that ended only with the provision of copious amounts of frozen strawberries (Lucy) and Hot to Trot Red Bled (Mom and Dad). Also, more pigtails!

Lucy is dedicating this one to Unckoo Scott!!

Lucy just got a brand new sandbox - no sand yet, but shaped like a tugboat in honor of Unckoo Scott's one-day dream to be a tugboat captain. Unckoo Scott - you can come over to practice your boat driving anytime!!

Lucy knows right where the Easter eggs go...

Into Elmo's head! Lucy packed up her Elmo Easter basket and took it to Federal Way this afternoon for an Easter egg hunt sponsored by supermom and co-worker Miss Becky. There were jillions of kids there and Becky hid over 300 eggs, plus she had a little area just for Lucy, who was a little young to participate in the complicated scavenger egg hunt the older kids were doing. Miss Becky and her family also live right on a lake, which Lucy thought was pretty darn great. All in all, Lucy (and mom and dad) had a great time, there were lots of delicious treats and candy, and Lucy managed to get her beautiful Easter dress absolutely filthy...so, toddler success on a grand scale!

Lucy is the Tulip Festival Queen...

Today Lucy took Brian and I to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. It's a festival! With tulips! And mud! My feet hurt, we're all covered with mud, and I'm pretty sure Lucy ate enough mud and rocks to power her gizzard for a fortnight, but overall - it was pretty fun. Lots of cute picture taking opportunities for us, and lots of tulip stalking and killing opportunities for Lucy Warrior Princess. I'd say that's a win-win...plus, did I mention the mud!??
