Lucy turned TWO!

And we had her birthday party at Sky High Sports - basically a giant Warehouse 'o' Danger in Bellevue full of trampolines and wholly unqualified people attempting to perform acrobatic "moves" like "falling" and "landing...HARD." And by "unqualified people" I mainly mean "me" since I'm the only one who managed to get hurt. Pretty sad when a group of 2-year olds, and my dad, are the safest people in the room. The good news is, when I asked one of the employees if they had any band-aids, he waited to roll his eyes and snicker until I turned around to limp away.

Aside from the last two pictures, which depict the obligatory candle blowing out and cupcake eating, the rest of these pictures are just blurry out of focus shots of Lucy, Brian, and Grandpa Dietz jumping, running, and generally engaging in semi-organized chaos. When we got home, Lucy kept saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!" and "CANDLES....OUT!" I sat down with a glass of wine and iced my arm and my knee, and my dad and Brian loaded up on Aleve. Good times.

Lucy will give you a (sand)dollar.

Summer finally came to Seattle...in mid-August, so Brian and I took Lucy to Saltwater State Park to explore the beach a little bit. Lucy proved once again that she is definitely Brian's daughter - she loves the beach, the water, and picking up each and every thing she comes across to inspect it carefully and destroy it if necessary.

Lucy will take care of your baby.

Well, no one said she would be good at it.

Just kidding. Sort of. Lucy got a grocery cart with a baby seat in it for her birthday and it has become her new favorite thing. The baby seat is removable, which not only allows Lucy to haul the baby INCLUDING THE SEAT everywhere she goes, but to sometimes leave it forlornly sitting in the middle of the park like some kind of post-apocaplyptic Playground of Abandonment.

These pictures are of Lucy showing Baby (sidenote: look at us thinking of these clever names!) the wonders of our local playground. I personally think Baby is PARTICULARLY enjoying the teeter-totter.

Lucy loves booberries!

Brian and I took Lucy to the U-Pick Blueberry Farm today. This is pretty much like heaven for Lucy, since she eats roughly 6.3 metric tons of blueberries each and every day. She's our secret weapon really...she stripped the plants clean like a blueberry locust. The funniest part of the whole day is that, after all our hard work picking blueberries, we left the bag on top of the car when we drove off. Good thing Lucy enjoyed them while we were there!

Lucy Jane Knievel

Lucy is a daredevil. Brian is her enabler. Both of them are trying to give me a heart attack.
