Lucy is a big girl.

I love this picture of Lucy. She's so definitely not a baby anymore...a big girl with big dreams and big demands. That's our girl!

Lucy is a pretty good baker.

Last weekend, Brian and Scott went for a sail, and Lucy and I looked at each other, shrugged, and said "What should we do now?" One thing we both love is to eat baked goods, so that seemed like a good place to start. Lucy voted for something involving bananas, so we made Linda Dietz's famous banana bread muffins. Lucy helped me mix the wet ingredients, and was particularly good at mashing the bananas, even though she insisted on eating some of our products before they made it into the muffins.

Once the muffins were done, Lucy helped me take them out of the oven to cool. She was nice enough not to point out how charbroiled our oven mitt is. As you can see, before I knew what happened she grabbed a muffin and took a huge bite right out of the middle. Teeth are AWESOME!!

Lucy is learning that beauty is pain.

Lucy's hair is getting so long, I really want to start putting it into little pigtails or a ponytail once in a while. Lucy is...slightly less enthused about this idea. After the initial round of crying, she seemed to actually get used to them, although I'll admit the pictures make me feel a bit like Cruella DeVille. If you need me I'll be over here brushing my Dalmation fur coat and drinking martinis made from baby tears. Seriously though, how cute is that??

Lucy is a party animal!

I'm not sure what they're putting the milk around here, but whatever it is, I'll take a double! Lucy has recently taken to wandering around the house with a basket on her head, like an outtake of Baby Animal House or something. Next week: Baby Toga Party!!

Lucy might be a bat...

Judging by how much she enjoys hanging from her feet:

Lucy is still cute.

Lucy's loyal fans (hi Mom!) may have thought that we were hiding her recently for some reason(let's not talk about The Haircut That Shall Not Be Named). These pictures prove that she's just as cute as ever, and affirm that her recent absence is entirely due to Mommy's inability to hold on to anything for more than 5 minutes at a time...lately I lose everything I touch. But, now we have a new camera and we're ready to get back to the constant, obsessive, insanely detailed pictoral documentation of Lucy's life.

We're baaaaaa-aaaaack.

Lucy was nice enough to take me and Brian to Best Buy today to buy a new camera. We're still figuring it out, but Lucy seems to like it:

Lucy wants to help. But only if there are no vacuums.

I don't think I can overstate Lucy's hatred of the vacuum cleaner. Every time I get it out, before it's even turned on, she dissolves into a weepy shaking mess. I didn't even KNOW a baby could HAVE a panic attack.

So, a friend of ours gave Lucy this hand-me-down toy vacuum and I thought to myself "Perfect! Now I can give her panic attacks anytime - all without the hassle of hauling the big vacuum up from the basement!!" Just kidding. I thought maybe she would like to pretend vacuum, and we could slowly introduce the real vacuum and get her used to it.

What's funny is that she loves the baby vacuum and will walk around with it, pretending to vacuum just like me. But, the whole time, she whimpers and cries pathetically. It's like watching a baker make beautiful pastries, only someone took away the butter and flour and replaced them with liver and onions.
